irene

i had the great "pleasure" of being in maryland when hurricane irene showed up.  i was evacuated from ocean city.  it struck me on thursday that although the storm was still 1000 miles away the undertow was some of the worst i've ever experienced.

on sunday morning there was a tree broken in my mother's front yard.  it seems like it was twisted and tortured before it smashed onto the fence.  somehow it managed to miss all the building and parked cars around it.  still, it was quite a project to chop it up and get it back into the yard until it can be dealt with.

i must confess that i'm glad to be far away back in the midwest. i love the east coast, i love maryland but this trip was a bit insane.
